The 2007 Great Soap Challenge
This year we decided to target soap in our efforts to support Lutheran World Relief.
Our goal? ONE TON of soap in 2007. A ton is approximately 8,000 total average size bars of soap, or 154 bars per week, which is
51 three-packs per week. To date we have collected over 500 bars of soap. We just received Thrivent support toward our project so
our members are out bargain shopping. This effort should easily put us over the 1,000 bar mark, or one eighth of the way to our goal.
MARCH MADNESS
We have turned March Madness into the Soap Bubble Classic St. Paul style. The youth of the congregation (all 7 of us!) have challenged
the Pastor and the rest of the congregation to a friendly competition. Each bar of soap counts one point. 8-12 bar multi-packs add a
3 point bonus, and larger than 12 bar multi packs bring a 5 point bonus. The losing coach will get a banana cream pie in the face
at the end of the game. We will be accepting bids (in bars of soap of course!) for the right to throw the pie. Stay tuned for the
latest updates of the Soapies Vs. Geezers game!

Peace Candle
St. Paul adopted the tradition of the Peace Candle, to
pass the Peace of God from our congregation to those of our associate members and visitors. Our peace
candle burns on the altar every Sunday to remind us to "Go in Peace, Serve the Lord". This
tradition was shared with us by Resurrection Lutheran Church, Avon Park, FL. We offer our visitors a
peace candle to take back to their home congregation along with the story of the
history of the peace candle.
